    The specific epithet pulchella is preoccupied by C. pulchlella Saut. ex Reichnb (1830) and C. pulchella    Blytt (1861) representing two different taxa. The epithet proposed here is from  Lahul in Himalayas where this species grows.

    Calamagrostis nepalensis Nees ex Steud. is a synonym for C. pseudophragmites (Hall.f) Koeler, a much different species with callus hairs 2-3 times the length of lemma, longer ligule and larger spikelets. The epithet proposed here is in honour of Stainton, the collector of the type specimen and one who has collected a lot in Nepal.
